So I have had the flu after all, although the doctor hasn't determined whether I have the fancy pandemic version or the boring old one. So I missed five days of work and came home early the last couple of days to lie in bed and rest quietly, except I can hear my raspy breathing and every once in a while I start dramatically coughing up stuff.
The doctor gave me the super-duper cough syrup, which made me completely forget about all of my health concerns until the next morning, when I read the list of side effects, which started with "Nausea commonly occurs..." and that was a very accurate description of what ensued. At that point I just kinda leaned over the sink and was nauseated and felt real sorry for myself. But in a short time I felt much better.
So yes, Health Emergency 2009 is ending and I tell you what, I will be getting every single possible flu shot in the fall, because this has been a waste of time and when you are too sick to enjoy the silliness of The Bold and the Beautiful (where one male character has been married to a woman, her daughter, her sister, and her arch-nemesis- all within the last year or so), then you know you are very, very ill.
In other news, I have rested up this afternoon so that I can attend the long-awaited Avett Brothers concert.
